Welcome to a web-based continuing education course prepared for ACSLPA, the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. This course is open to ACSLPA regulated members only (practicing and non-practicing SLPs).

COURSE PURPOSE: Ordering videofluoroscopy (VFSS) is typically restricted to a select number of authorized professionals (currently SLPs are not part of this authorized group). Regulatory changes may soon permit SLPs to seek authorization to order VFSS, provided they have advanced knowledge. This course will equip SLPs with that knowledge.

Currently this course is being offered for professional development purposes only. Once we receive notification from government that an advanced authorization to refer for ionizing radiation by SLPs has been granted, we will incorporate an examination that will be required if you want to obtain the authorization. Regulated members who may be interested in pursuing the advanced authorization once it is approved should retain a copy of the certificate of completion for this course. It will be required to obtain your advanced authorization.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • You must review each module and complete the knowledge check questions at the end in order to advance to the next module.

  • All of the answers to the knowledge check questions are provided in the module; hence, you must obtain 100% on each knowledge check quiz in order to proceed through the course. You will have up to 3 attempts at each knowledge check quiz.

  • If you need to go back and review a video, you can do so by hitting the “back” arrow in the top left hand corner of your screen.

  • You do not have to complete all of the modules and knowledge checks in one sitting but keep in mind that your access to the course will expire 90 days from purchase date.
