The nominees for Member of Council are asked to complete a questionnaire so that ACSLPA members can make an informed decision about who they are voting for. Even though an election is not necessary, the candidate’s answers to the 5 questions are below.

Provide a brief overview of your professional background (which may include work experience such as clinical, research, and/or administration/management background, volunteer, board/committee experience). |
I am a homegrown Calgarian educated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (Sociology and Psychology Minor) from the University of Calgary and a Doctorate of Audiology from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. During my doctoral studies I was immersed in numerous clinic experiences such as: hospitals, ENT clinics, private practice, educational audiology, pediatric SLP clinic and an internship with AHS Audiology Services. I have worked in private practice with Calgary Hearing Aid & Audiology since 2016, where I excel in diagnostics and treatment for pediatrics (5+) and adults. For a 2-year period I worked closely with otolaryngologists at the Calgary Ear Centre as the primary hearing care provider and was responsible for managing this clinic.
2. |
How do you feel your knowledge, skills, and experience summarized above could benefit ACSLPA? |
I feel that my life experiences have taught me how to advocate for my beliefs and values, and this includes my beloved profession of audiology. Asking the right questions and self-teaching have always been a part of my life and I help my colleagues learn these valuable tools. Being a part of my profession’s college, I would hope to aid in the long-term goals of the council and add my critical eye for structure.
3. |
Why do you want to be part of ACSLPA’s Council at this time? |
I have desired to engage more with our professional college but have needed to gain experience in my home province and observe the functioning of my professional college prior to dipping my toe in the proverbial pool. My life path has worked out such that I have extra time to dedicate to my profession, as I choose to work part time so that I am home to raise my young children. I have appreciated the guidance and growth from ACSLPA over the years and I feel now is the perfect time in my life to represent audiologists in my province.
4. |
Please share your thoughts on ACSLPA’s vision: ACSLPA is recognized as being a proactive, engaged, and solution-focused regulator. |
Being a member with ACSLPA, I have watched it grow allowing for more transparency and accountability with our members. As the CCP was developed, I felt that my college was acting on my concerns over continuing education. I appreciated the engagement and guidance ACSLPA provided during the COVID pandemic, and their adjustments afterward. With every ACSLPA email in your inbox, you’ll see evidence of their vision, including both SLP’s and AUD’s. We may be two different professions, but our goals align in keeping our patients safe, respecting our colleagues and educating ourselves such that we can share our expertise with others.

Council is seeking financial literacy skills for the 2025-2027 term. Council acquires the financial literacy skills it needs through:
If applicable, please share your knowledge, skills, and work or volunteer experiences related to financial literacy (e.g., volunteer board/committee experience, preparing or monitoring budgets at work, etc.) |
I grew up in a family business and worked there managing inventory and sales transactions for several summers through my undergraduate years. Becoming an international student for my doctoral studies taught me a lot about international law, immigration law, finances and health insurance. I manage all my families’ finances and taxes. One of my career goals is to create a forensic audiology consulting business, for which I have developed a business plan and hope to act on my intentions soon. I am excited for any learning opportunities available and am fully dedicated to continuing education in any area required. |
