Under the Health Professions Act (HPA), the business and affairs of ACSLPA are governed by a Council. Council actions and decisions are made in accordance with the HPA and guided by the ACSLPA Vision, Mission & Values, in support of the strategic plan.

Council consists of 12 members, 6 elected registered members of ACSLPA and 6 public representatives appointed by the Lieutenant Governor on advice from the Minister of Health.

Council Meetings are held virtually or in-person in Edmonton or Calgary. ACSLPA members are invited to attend any Council meetings as an observer but must pre-register with the ACSLPA office. Council has set the following 2024 meeting dates:

ACSLPA Council encourages members of Council, registered members, volunteers, employees, the public and other stakeholders to disclose/report serious unethical, fraudulent, or illegal behaviour involving members of ACSLPA Council, ACSLPA’s Registrar, or ACSLPA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The ACSLPA’s third party managed Reporting Website and hotline provides a mechanism to allow confidential disclosure of:

      • Harassment, abuse of authority and/or trust, or bullying,
      • Suspected fraud,
      • Financial or administrative irregularities,
      • Failure, refusal, or neglect to comply with a legal obligation,
      • An act of retaliation or reprisal against any individual who reported in a concern in good faith using this reporting mechanism, or
      • Unethical or illegal conduct.
